Intranet User Group

news_bubble2.jpgAt a meeting on March 5th, some ideas were presented to a group of staff representatives from each campus. Some of the proposed changes to the Intranet (http://www.southbank.net) can be seen here. We welcome comments, ideas and suggestions...

Similar meetings are taking place with parents and students to get a sense of what people would like to see.

Thanks very much for the preview and for the opportunity to make comments.

I was impressed by the scope of the intranet site - the potential is amazing and I'm sure parents and staff will be impressed and appreciative.

What we saw today was not the student section and this is an area that would need to be made "primary friendly" if it is truly geared towards all students and if it is to be used to its full potential.

I'll repeat what I said today about using some of the aspects we saw today on the southbank.org site. The view of Southbank seen by the public should be just as complete and impressive as southbank.net. I agree that we would not want everything available for the general public, but more could be added to southbank.org so it truly represents all that is Southbank.

I do like that the intranet site offers a secure site for primary kids to post their learning, work, and ideas. This will hopefully keep them away from posting on myspace, etc.

Again, thanks for the opportunity to see the new intranet. I'll look forward to the launch.

The new Intranet would be a great way to integrate all Southbank campuses together. Staff, students and parents could easily keep up to date with everything that goes on in the different locations and hopefully be encouraged to interact.

I think that in order to make the new Intranet as successful as it deserves, it would need an amount of publicity in bulletins, classrooms etc, at least at the beginning. Also, may I just suggest that staff is trained to use it? It would probably save time of "playing around" and help achieving better and quicker results.

Thanks for the opportunity to have an early peek.

I really enjoyed the session on the intranet. It will be good to see a variety of information from all 3 campuses. It is amazing what can be done these days and I look forward to using the intranet come 'launch day.'
I particulary liked the assessment link for teachers. I think this could be the way forward and if it could be linked in with report writing it will be really useful. Perhaps primary maths continuums and reading and writing maps of development could be stored on there too?
I think it is important that the student section is made 'primary friendly' and easy to use. I look forward to more weblogs about students work. Great things are already starting to happen.
Perhaps the termly calendar for each campus could be posted on the site, for both staff and parents to access. Teachers could then post classroom events on too.
Thanx for the preview, it all looks very exciting.

I recently visited hoping—not for the first time—to get a look at the School Calendar to confirm term dates. In this I was once again frustrated.

Isn’t it funny how it’s always the really simple, useful things that get forgotten in the rush for Progress…?
