They used a graffiti board to record their thoughts and feelings as they listened to the stories.

The students got into groups to share their responses to this book. They were asked to identify any commonalities from the groups discussion. They identified issues, thoughts and feelings they had about the story and the portrayal of the characters and events.

Each group then selected an area they wanted to explore further from the discussions as a result of their reading.

our class didn't read the story "The boy who grew flowers" but we were reading a lot of other storys of Patricia palaco's books like "Thunder cack" "chicken sunday" "thank you Mr. falker" "Mrs. katz and tush".

Do you guys have a FAVORITE book? I have a couple. Some of them are:

~ 'Illusions',
~ 'The Silver Donkey',
~ 'The Windsinger',
~ and the Breadwinner series - 'The Breadwinner', 'Parvana's Journey', and 'Mud City'.

Yeah...I have a lot of favorites!
