I've really enjoyed UOI recently. I'm having fun while still learning. I'm also making friends and learning more about others. Sales (dividing decimals) are new to me, but I'm getting the hang of it quickly.
I wonder what job I'll be assigned to. I hope something like accountant.
See you at school,
Keiko

This is for the homework.
When we make a decision we decide as a group not just one person we have to make sure that everyone agrees with it. Today I enjoyed it a lot because we made 71 euros and 85 cence or pence I don't really know. But we all had to divide oursleves up so one person would go buy things and the rest will try to sell their things. We also divided ourselves into groups so cutting and colouring so we wouldn't waste time and swap because that would take even longer. This was a lot of fun and I can't wait until we get our jobs!
We lowered almost everything because some people wouldn't buy them so unfortunatley we had to lower them or we wouldn't have any money.

This Trading game is a lot of Fun!!!
I learned that better quality goods are most likely to cost more in the business world. We had to raise the price of our goods when we saw the price of the other teams goods as well. Our team had a few people at the back table to keep the supple of our objects going so we would build up our supply!
I loved how everyone always came to each table to look then, if the prices being high they would go to a different table, or if the quality of the goods were extreme they would get a couple.
a skill that we had to use today was organization because you had to keep your goods in neat piles wile letting the buyers have a good view of them as well. Organization is also important so you could keep a safe working Area,
I had so much fun and can't wait for Monday till the jobs are reveled!

I learned that high-priced products must be of a high standard, in order to be worth what they cost, and a good bargain. Also, it helps to have half your group selling/buying things, while the other half is producing more goods. I think that it was fun, writing the letters of application, and using different currencies, like euros, pounds, and tokens. Although 'tokens' aren't really a currency, but anyway...
Producing the goods was a lot of fun too. We had a very organized system, to cut and color, and we made loads of quality products. We worked on our time management skills, when we drew up a plan: 2 minutes prior to the trading, we would stop producing, and organize the display area, and factory. However, even though Gal kept an extremely accurate eye on the clock, we didn't get ourselves enough time to fully tidy up. I think that we may have lost a few euros on that, because some countries- who were extremely picky about the goods that they bought- refused to buy from such a messy store. Maybe we could improve on that next time.

I really like the trading game and it teaches us how to deal and what to do with Economy. My group wasn't really cooporating but we were kind of telling each other what to do.

India (my group) didn't manage to sell anything because they put the price way too high and the other countries had bags for 2 euros at the same quality and we had bags for 10 euros .

Hi grade 5,
I thought it was very interesting to watch how you changed the prices of your items as the trading progressed. What made you decide to increase or decrease the price? What items sold for higher prices? Why do you think that was?
What was your group's profit after the trading was completed?
I am looking forward to reading your letters of application this weekend!

I really like the new unit. I was going to buy pottery from Brazil but they had it for 6 euros and the Philippines had them for 4 euros so I bought pottery from the Philippines and then Brazil noticed me leaving so they lowered the price.

Systems and Economy
People have developed organized systems for exchanging goods and services. The students have been exploring systems and inquiring into trading processes. This week they have enthusiastically taken up the challenge of "The Trading Game."
The students have been grouped into countries and the first thing they had to do was devise a system for production of their food. The second stage is for each member of their community to adopt a role and the responsibilities that the role entails. ind out more from the student responses and reflections.
How effective is your team and why?
How did you select peoples roles within your community?
How have your group made decisions?
What skills are evident within your group?
