We came up with some steps for solving word problems involving money in class today.
5G listed the following steps:
-read the problem carefully (more than once if necessary)
-circle or underline the most important information
-decide which operation to use
-solve the problem and check using the inverse operation
-write your answer as a sentence

The students then applied these strategies in class when investigating about financial planning!
In order to solve problems like this, we need to apply our understanding of adding and subtracting decimal numbers. Have a go at this game on the BBC schools website to practice your skills!
