Grade 5 Artifact Museum
Grade 5 students acted as curators of an Artifact Museum that was set up in our classrooms. There were 'galleries' from several time periods including Roman, Viking, Tudor and Anglo-Saxon. Students catalogued a range of artifacts and displayed them for parents and the school community to see. Some groups used the artifacts that we collected during our recent ‘archeological expedition’ at the River Thames.
Please have a look at some highlights from the museum. Comments about your visit are also very welcome!
Grade 5 students spent the afternoon at Westminster yesterday. They took part in a science and humanities lessons. It was very exciting to learn about electricity and work in the science lab! In the humanities class, Mr. Barnett showed us a variety of interesting artefacts that he has collected over the years including a 5000 year old necklace from Ancient Egypt! Have a look at our video to see more!

Hi Grade 5, Keiko found this great website, which is a secondary source of history. Have a look to find out more about specific time periods in history in the UK and the rest of the world. Time periods include Roman, Vikings, Tudors, Aztec, Ancient Egypt etc!
Tonight you will have a chance to look at some artifacts that were found at Anglo-Saxon sites. After you have spent some time observing and interpreting these objects, take some time to read what historians and archaeologists have found by going through the same process.
Grade 5 students are taking an active role in planning our units of inquiry. This is excellent preparation for the PYP Exhibition, where students will be responsible for identifying the key concepts, transdisciplinary skills, profiles and attitudes that they will focus on during their inquiry.
Today we had an author named Robin Price visit our school as part of Reading Week. Grade 5 students had the exciting opportunity to take place in a writing workshop with him.
