Grade 6: Stop-Motion Animation Brief

sam2.jpg For your third trimester project, you will need to do the following in your groups of three or more.

  • Brainstorm your ideas with your group. Remember the creative exercise we did when we passed the paper around and everyone added a sentence?
  • Break down your brainstormed idea in to: scenes (actual set locations), characters (main 'actors' in your film), props (extra things that get used in your animation) and sound effects (do the actions in your animation have sounds that go with them?)
  • Once you and your group have decided on a story idea, you need to write a script.
  • Once your script is complete, you will then need to evolve it into a storyboard!

Over on the Hollywood Animation Archive, there is a very informative blog post taken from the Famous Artists Courses on Designing for Television. This has been printed out for you so you can see examples of storyboarding. If you don't have access to your original printout, here is a link to the original.
