Banner Ads

Advertising on the Internet often takes the form of a Banner Ad. These are usually a consistent size and clicking on them usually re-directs you to the advertisers website. The advertiser pays the host of the banner ad for every "click through..."

You can find out more at Wikipedia. Read more to find out about the assignment...

1. Create 5 banner ads that advertise the IB programme. Look at the IB Learner Profile on the wall of evey room for inspiration. Make at least one as an animated GIF.

2. Embed each ad in a single html page using Tables.

3. Put a relevant Hyper Link on each one.

4. Publish these to your Sites Folder and post the URL as a comment against this Entry.

Be good while I'm not there :)

Animated GIF's

animatedfalcon.gif

Animated GIF's are probably the simplest way of putting animation into a web page. They produce the kind of crude animation that you can make by drawing sequential pictures on the corners of a sketch book...

Heres some help with making an Animated Gif:
1. First of all find a series of pictures that you would like to animate.
2. Open them in Photoshop and make a series of images, saving them as CompuServe Gif's.
3. open GIFfun and drag all the Gif picutres into the application's main window.
4. If you want to keep the gif moving for ever make sure that you add a loop.
5. Then click create the Gif.

Product Analysis and Specifications

blister_pack.jpgThings to remember:
- Look at existing products on the market (toys on amazon.com)
- Make a list of product and packaging features that you like/dislike about what you have found. Save pictures from what you have found on the web
- Start a list of what should be on your packaging (warning notices, instructions, prices, etc) in a Word file called 'Product Specification'
- Think about ways (and list them in your document) of how you could potentially market your product (website, posters)
