Project 1 Wrapup

Middle School students: We should be nearing the end of our projects soon (Pocket Puzzle, Steadyography, Flying Toy). You will need to make sure that your written documentation is complete and in your design folders by no later than Friday, November 24th. This will include:

  • Statement of problem

  • Design brief

  • Brainstorm (spider-diagram)

  • Specification list

  • etc...

Please see your project lists (supplied by us and in the front of your technology folder) for a more comprehensive list. All of your documentation (with the exception of your sketches) will need to be typed up (without colours and Word Art!) in Microsoft Word and saved as "project_name"_documentation.doc (like pocket_puzzle_documentation.doc).

A detailed list of the documentation requirements is available here.

Product Analysis and Specifications

blister_pack.jpgThings to remember:
- Look at existing products on the market (toys on amazon.com)
- Make a list of product and packaging features that you like/dislike about what you have found. Save pictures from what you have found on the web
- Start a list of what should be on your packaging (warning notices, instructions, prices, etc) in a Word file called 'Product Specification'
- Think about ways (and list them in your document) of how you could potentially market your product (website, posters)

Flying Toy for Dogs

snackshotz.jpgThe Grade 8 Trimester One project of creating a flying toy to encourage obese children to get out and exercise seems to be a reality - at least in the pet world.

The SnackShotz is a pellet-gun that fires dog-treats that your pup can chase and eat. The idea is to combat canine obesity by turning treats-time into exercise hour.
