As part of the initial conversations with the Inspectors during the half-term break, we received recommendations to make changes to a number of school policies including the following: Child Protection, Anti-bullying, Educational Visits, Complaints/EC Complaints Procedures. These updates have been made and you can find the revised versions here by selecting the Handbooks & Policies category and clicking on the "go" button.
Westminster Parents & Students
We are pleased to launch a new online system for you to explore the curriculum at Southbank Westminster where you can view general course descriptions and a unit calendar showing the order of major curriculum units. An overall view of the curriculum is shown in a curriculum map and you can also view details of individual units in the unit planners.
Access to these resources is part of our ongoing communications improvements. Please send any feedback about your experience of using the new system to Lori Fritz

Grade 10 English Event
In a quest to deepen their understanding of Oceania's history and society depicted in the novel "Nineteen Eighty Four" by George Orwell, Grade 10 students participated in a role play event last week, playing archaeologists who had "discovered" artefacts from Oceania. Ms. Hall and Ms. Randhawa's English classes presented their findings to fellow students who assessed them on their presentation and explanation of the exhibits. The students enjoyed the process of sharing their knowledge with their peers and the opportunity to showcase their creativity.
Grade 6 Town Meeting

On the last day of term while many of us were dreaming of the holidays, Grade 6 were occupied in the Portland Place Hall for a special Town Meeting. They celebrated achievements among Grade 6 and enjoyed several drama and music performances and a poetry recital. Some of the students also gave presentations about the field trips they had been on that term to see Jack and the Beanstalk, the Roald Dahl Museum and the Science Museum.
Our Best Trip Ever

Southbank EAL students (Grades 6-8) visited the world-renowned BBC Television Centre in Shepherds Bush and participated in the CBBC Interactive Tour. Some students had the opportunity to see themselves on TV as they acted as news reporters, weather reporters, television programme hosts and game show contestants, while others took on the important roles of sound and lighting technicians. A big thank you to the EAL students for showing the BBC how superb Southbank students are!

Southbank really is International
The Municipal Council of Moshi Tanzania has named a road Southbank International School Road, that leads up to Mwereni Primary School, in recognition of all the support the school has received from Southbank and the difference that it has made to their community. We are immensely honoured and hope that the strong links between the two schools will continue.
